Dieppe (Petcoudiac)
Now a city in full economic and demographic boom, Dieppe (formerly Petcoudiac and Léger's Corner) had Acadians living there before the Grand Dérangement. After the Deportation, in the mid-1770s, Joseph Surette and Germain Thibodeau returned. Dieppe's economy was first mainly ruled by agriculture, but now as Atlantic Canada's largest Acadian city, Dieppe has an important service sector, both commercial and public, an international airport and a Community College campus. Arthur LeBlanc, internationally renowned violinist, and Paul LeBlanc, who received an Oscar in 1984 for his participation in the film Amadeus, are both from Dieppe.
