Lamèque
Jean-Chrysostome Chiasson and his family were the first Acadians to settle in Lamèque in the early 19th century. Although fisheries are the community's chief economic activity, peat moss has also been very important since the 1940s. Every summer, Lamèque hosts an international festival of baroque music.
