Families

Chosen mainly from among Acadian pioneer families, Acadians from Atlantic Canada and elsewhere will recount family stories and anecdotes about their hometowns, as well as memories of the Deportation that have been handed down through the generations.

These testimonials are drawn from oral tradition and collective family memories and were reproduced as is. They showcase not only a new side of how the Acadian collective imagination perceives the Grand Dérangement and the Deportation, but also the richness of Acadian oral tradition. Accompanied by texts and historical documents, these testimonials will help you discover the history of different Acadian families, as well as the history of places where their ancestors resettled after the Deportation.
