Pokemouche

The Acadian pioneer of this former Mi'kmaq village, Isidore Robichaud, settled in Pokemouche around 1797. The Robichauds, who had come from Carleton (Tracadièche) in Gaspé, as well as the others who arrived later, mostly exploited the region's forestry and agricultural resources. Being centrally located in the Acadian Peninsula, Pokemouche today has access to many services, such as a community radio station, Radio Péninsule, and a small airport.
