The Grand Dérangement and the Deportation have had a very significant impact on artistic and memorial production about Acadie, whether in Canada, in the United States or in Europe. One of the first works inspired by the Deportation was the poem Evangeline, A Tale of Acadie, written by the famous American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in 1847. A few years later, in 1855, the Deportation was commemorated for the first time in a pastoral letter from the Archbishop of Halifax.

These two important events have spawned a series of works of art and memorial events that allowed Acadians to remember that tragic event. This section presents some of these works and memorials.
