Prince Edward Island

Rustico

Like Malpec, the village of Rustico was colonized by families who had taken refuge in the Bay of Chaleurs after the Deportation. The families of Louis, Jean, Joseph and Basile Gallant and of Jean Pitre settled in Rustico to fish and cultivate the land. In 2001, a French school was opened there and renewed a sense of pride in the region's Francophone and Acadian culture.
