Meteghan
First colonized around 1785, today Meteghan has one of the region's busiest seaports. Prudent Robichaud and his family – who lived through the Deportation before temporarily settling in Pointe-de-l'Église – were the first to arrive in the region after applying for a land grant. At the end of the 19th century, shipyards and fisheries contributed to Meteghan being the largest Bay Sainte-Marie village. Ambroise-H. Comeau (1859-1911) from Meteghan became Nova Scotia's first Acadian senator in 1907.
