Monuments, Plaques and Historic Sites
The Deportation of the Acadians is an historical event commemorated in the Atlantic Provinces with plaques, monuments and historic sites. The commemorative church in Grand-Pré , which was built between 1922 and 1930, is one of the best-known constructions recalling the memory of the Deportation. In fact, in 1961, it was designated a national historic site. However, not every monument commemorating this event is as majestic: numerous plaques and crosses also contribute to maintain this part of the Acadians' collective memory.
