Shippagan

New Brunswick's "commercial fishing capital" was colonised by, amongst others, Acadians from Bonaventure, in Gaspé, around the end of the 18th century. Among the first to arrive were Jean-Baptiste Robichaud and his family, who had lived through the Deportation. Today, Shippagan has one of the Université de Moncton's three campuses, the head offices of the Péninsule acadienne campus of the New Brunswick Community College and the New Brunswick Aquarium and Marine Center.
